Not half bad! Michael completes Colchester Half Marathon in personal best but keeps on running

23rd April 2018

On the 25th March, Whittles’ partner Michael Greene ran the Colchester Half Marathon in a personal best time of one hour 44 minutes, a full 8 minutes better than in previous years. “I don’t know where that came from,” admits Michael. “I must have been possessed but it was a brilliant event. Conditions were perfect and there was a great crowd. I enjoyed every minute.”

But Michael is yet to hang up his trainers as there are two more running events to go this year and the opportunity to raise funds for the firm’s current nominated charity - the Essex Air Ambulance.

On 13th May there is the Colchester 10k, which is organised by The Rotary Club of Colchester Trinity (Trinity). The 10km road race, has this year, an improved start position and finishing on the Garrison Running track.

Then on the 20th May Michael will be running in the first ever Colchester Stampede 10k at Colchester Zoo. This is the first event ever to run through one of the UK’s most popular Zoos.  Michael will start off and make his way through the Zoo’s wild safari walk to then head out onto the roads of Colchester before running back through the Zoo towards the finish.

There is still time to encourage Michael in his training and to donate to the great work of the Essex Air Ambulance. Just click here for Michael’s JustGiving fundraising page. JustGiving sends your donation straight to Essex Air Ambulance and automatically reclaims Gift Aid if you are a UK taxpayer, so your donation is worth even more.
