Whittles back in town – accountancy practice celebrates 25 years and move to West Stockwell Street.

23rd June 2016

Whittles, chartered accountants, which celebrates its 25 year anniversary this year, has moved from its edge of town, riverside location into the centre of Colchester to The Old Exchange in 64 West Stockwell Street.

The new office, which was marketed by local chartered surveyors Newman Commercial, is located within the town’s conservation area.  The building, a former telephone exchange, built in 1928, by The Office of Works, is neo-Georgian in style which sympathetically the historic street location. Accessed from off the High Street, the red brick building has over 5,500 sq.ft. spread over four floors, offering ample accommodation for the current team as well as the firm’s growth aspirations.

Partner Tim Moriarty explains the motivation for the move: “It was simply a matter of good timing.  We had a break in our office lease arrangements which coincided with The Old Exchange coming on to the market.  We particularly liked the idea of having our own front door and being back in a more central location.”

Partner Rachel Skells adds: “We are celebrating our 25 year anniversary this year and it feels appropriate to mark the occasion with a move back to the historical heart of Colchester. There is a real sense of regeneration in Colchester at the moment and we believe that with our new location there will be greater opportunities to be involved in the many initiatives aimed at developing the town to its full potential.”

The Whittles partners opened the door of number 64 to clients on Monday 20th June.
